Description
Highly regarded for the finesse and elegance of her spirited, humorous writing, the composer Jeanine Rueff (1922–1999) wrote numerous works for a variety of instruments, collaborating also with the renowned Marcel Mule, a great classical saxophonist known worldwide. Among her compositions for saxophone, three which have been played throughout the globe stand out: the Concertino for alto saxophone and string orchestra (1951), the Sonate for solo alto saxophone (1967) and her Concert en quatuor (1962). A good part of her catalogue is devoted to pedagogical pieces, like this lovely Chanson et Passepied (1951) for alto saxophone and piano which has become a must for players at an intermediate (after ap¬proximately 6 years of lessons) level. Introduction and notes on interpretation in French and English by the saxophonist Nicolas Prost. – New engraving.
