Sergei Rachmanioff (1 April 1873 – 28 March 1943) was a Russian pianist, composer, and conductor and composed some of the most popular pieces in the Romantic repertoire
As well as writing operas such as Francesca Da Rimini and Aleko and orchestral compositions such as Isle of the Dead (which was inspired by Arnold Böcklin's painting of the same name) Rachmaninoff was a virtuosic pianist and wrote extensively for the instrument. His Piano Concerto No. 2 is enduringly popular and his Piano Concerto No. 3 is widely regarded as one of the most technically challenging piano concertos in standard classical repertoire. At Musicroom, explore these and other great works such as Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini for solo piano and symphony orchestra. Rachmanioff sheet music and scores are available alongside other great Romantic pieces in the wider catalogue of classical sheet music & songbooks.
