This collection of original Christmas carols highlights Warlock's gift for memorable melodies and exquisite piano (or organ) accompaniments. Because they are written for unison choir (or solo voice) and are strophic in form they are extremely adaptable to whatever forces of which the director may dispose, and the artistic impression they make is maximal for the effort they require. The more I play them the deeper I fall under their spell.
The size of the printed score is slightly smaller than the standard choral octavo which is convenient for the chorister but perhaps difficult for the accompanist.
