Set out in quite an academic way. Well written. I like the way he simplifies the content into melody, harmony and rhythm sections. A good introduction to modes. Also, I appreciate that one needs to know the theory as Taylor realised after all his years on the instument
I need more practical advice on the chord progressions. The 'creating the melody' section is excellent but it would be great to have a case study of a musician trying to play the chord progressions and pointing out what goes wrong and right

Wow.....amazing! a definite confidence booster, and very clearly explained. Plenty of opportunity to put your own twist on things once the basics have been mastered.

Really well presented, excellent information for the intermediate/advanced jazzer. Now I just have to put it all into practice!! Should only take about 25 years....

Amazing is what it is. My sax teacher recommended this one and although its hard work going through each section in all keys, its very rewarding. I use the ideas in my warm ups and then work through for about 30 minutes a day. I think it will still be in use over the next few years. Worth every penny as far as I'm concerned.
