Books and CDs

Publisher: Kevin Mayhew Ltd.
Composer: Sarah Watts
Format: Books | Instrumental Reference
Red Hot Dots is an indispensable resource for class music teachers. This book is a treasure chest of musical activities to encourage good musical technique, offer fun musical experiences and expand musical horizons. The book covers requirements for the National Curriculum music syllabus, and is a useful resource for the specialist and non-specialist alike. Children can learn how to make up tunes and improvise; to talk about musical styles and how music makes them feel; and how to remember melodies and words by developing their listening skills.
The accompanying CD with the teacher copy contains all the backing tracks you need to get the most out of the book, including ten new songs for warming up, cooling down, having fun, doing actions, dancing to and dazzling an audience! The teacher copy also contains accompaniments if you prefer to accompany the class yourself.

Great songs, mostly in a bluesy-jazz style but encorporating a wide range of skills. Accompanying CD is of a good standard and all songs are set at manageable paces. A must for primary music educators.
