Publisher: Faber Music
Series: Choral Basics
Format: Sheet Music | Vocal Work

The Gospel Train is a crowd-pleasing collection of gospel favourites such as Go Down, MosesOh Happy Day! and Ain’t No Mountain High Enough. It also includes Standing In The Need of Prayer, a well-loved spiritual with a simple, meditative melody and a pleasing, repetitive chord sequence.

These spirituals are arranged for soprano and alto voices with a straightforward piano accompaniment, and form part of the Choral Basics series, which has been carefully designed to provide rewarding, varied repertoire for beginner choirs. Perfect for singers of all ages, the series offers attractive, idiomatic arrangements for SA and SAMen choirs, with carefully considered vocal ranges and straightforward piano accompaniments that support the singers. Embracing world music, spirituals, folk song, pop classics, hit shows and original pieces, this series offers everything a budding choir could wish for.

        Excellent arrangement
"Straightforward piano accompaniments" - not really. They are very good and idiomatic, but have many rhythms that take some careful study. Not for the G5 standard pianist.

Some nice arrangements of traditional/contempary gospel songs. Needs a good pianist for back up but easy enough to learn songs with a small choir.
