The spiral bound format and clear text make it very easy to use. Chord-based approach makes it easy to get up and running playing recognisable tunes and vol. 1 runs through to some fun repertoire at the end of the book. The theory exercises help consolidate learning the notation
The terminology is a bit American for UK users and the chord-based left hand parts become a bit limiting eventually, but this can be overcome by adding other music alongside this book as students progress.

        Musicroom Reviews

As a beginner I looked at various Piano books and chose Charles Hervé, Jacqueline Pouillard - Piano Method Book 1. I was a bit disappointed when my new tutor said I should get this book. but I now agree that it is better. A very well thought out book.

I ordered this book following reading other buyers reviews. I was contemplating cancelling my piano lessons as I was only able to attend once a week and my progression was slow. It arrived promptly & well packed. I have now cancelled my lessons and cannot put this book down. I am learning so much more and progressing well and cannot recommend this book enough. I am looking forward to purchasing level 2 now!!! For an adult beginner/intermediate this book is excellent. Many thanks

I think this book will be very useful for me as I learn Piano. So far very pleased with it. I have only had it a couple of weeks but it does look like it holds a wealth of information for me.

This is an excellent book with cd. Adult students really like it's clear form. It progresses at a good pace and the cd helps to make it fun. I would definitely recommend it for adult beginners.

I use this for all my adult biginners. They can learn practical piano with basic's help them understand music better. Some tunes are very American and sometimes not quite musical, but there are certainly enough materials to practice step by step.

A very well written book. I especially like the ringbinder format since it means it stands up easily. Since I can already read music I can skipp a lot of the book but it does give the simle chord progressions and builds up confidence in my ability on the piano as we go through the book.

Even though I have played the piano before I thought I would buy books 1,2 and 3 and work through them. These books are great. I wish I had had them years ago. For me and for anyone learning from scratch they are really good. They get you into the learning very quickly. I am still working through Level 1 but consider the money well spent. Very pleased indeed and would highly recommend them.

absolutely brilliant, have bought other beginners books but have not found them as interesting or informative, it has more information and explanations that the other books I have bought cannot wait to get level two

Having learnt piano as a child going from one exam to the next my overall musicianship was not great. This has been really helpful for learning all over again. Lots of tips and plenty of well arranged songs. The only down point is the style of some of the backing tracks, but it's great to have them to play along to. Recommended. I've already bought the next book!
