With the larger, more spaced out print compared with any other edition of these pieces, Elgar's myriad detailed markings suddenly become interesting and inspiring rather than overwhelming. The incomplete fragments are an interesting bonus, not found elsewhere.
Shame it has to be a large & unwieldy book. (It's the complete edition designed for libraries, but in paperback covers.)

Good to have all the music in an authoritative edition under one cover
There are considerable problems in the Sonata concerning what Elgar seems to have written and what he might have wanted to be played which the volume does not address. This work needs an editorial re-visit.
