Jolly good book to loosen up the fingers and stretch the brain!
I am an adult learner returning to piano playing after some years. This is not a book to give to a very young learner. (Professor?) Czerny suggests "three or four days" to complete the exercises in the book (if you dedicate and hour a day). In my case it is probably a neverending task but even after a week on page one I am noticing improvement when I play other pieces. It's a good study book to develop understanding of the relations between chords (page 1, for example... where I still am) consists of twelve bars of semiquavers based on the arpeggio of C major and its Dominant seventh, straightforward enough and an excellent practice for fingering.
As the book progresses there is a lot of work on chromatic scales and runs in thirds, fifths and octaves. By page 51 you'll be ready for international piano competitions!
Musicroom service was excellent. There was a delay of a few days because I think these old editions are probably printed up on request. The book is clear to read and on high quality paper. It arrived well-packed and in perfect condition.
Thank you, Musicroom and Carl Czerny!
