In the early 19th Century Zoltan Kodaly developed a way of educating young children through the singing of the native mother tongue folk songs. The differences between our current methods and his are marked and lie within the internal workings. The Kodaly Method uses a sequence for teaching music, that is child developmental. This book introduces the Kodaly Method in a simple and easy to follow way, and includes everything you need to teach The Kodaly Method yourself.

      Musicroom Reviews

If you are thinking of starting a Kodaly group and have some musical training, then this is an excellent resource. It has lots of ideas for teaching the Kodaly method of learning music through singing as well as several useful action songs. It is, however, fairly old-fashioned (dated even) in it's layout - no colour for instance. I don't think it has changed much since it was first published in 1974. Nevertheless, I have gained many helpful ideas from it and will use many of them with my new groups.
