Right From The Start contains 20 very elementary pieces for young players in an easy-to-follow format, written by Sheila M. Nelson. Many of the pieces are particularly suited to bowing variations and suitable rhythm patterns are indicated at the end of each piece. This type of teaching is used throughout the book and will enable any student to overcome the problems of music, by taking small steps Right from the Start!
The solo violin part is also included on a separate insert.
This book was written as a preliminary to the Suzuki Method, and progresses by small technical steps without the unnecessary repetition of many more recent books. I have been using it for beginners aged about 6 to 9 since 1981! The tunes are logical and easy to memorise, and under-laid with words which the children love. The uncluttered format and use of words helps to focus the child's attention on individual notes so that they can learn to read the musical notation. Anonymous
