A selection of comparatively simple Bach Preludes and Fuges very suitable for the new organ student as a first introduction to Bach organ music.
It is a pity that the format is a little small than the original copy I purchested in the 1950's, which needed replacement due to heavy usage.

Classic set of the preludes and fugues, in standard size score. Will take a deal of learning (as with most Bach), but highly enjoyable so far. Just the Prelude alone to No.8 (even on a typically Victorian church organ) is a thrill to play!
Not spiral-bound, but at least the longer (landscape) pages won't accidentally rip out.

Excellent introduction into the organ works of Bach. Quite simple to play, however there are beautiful melodies and very good for new organists.

Good book which is spiral bound making it easier to turn the pages than on the original version.

Spiral binding is a great help with or without a 'page turner'. This is a big improvement on the earlier edition I own which is ready to fall apart due to general wear and tear.

Whether Bach actually wrote these gems or not, they are always well received when used as closing voluntaries in church. Cheerful, sad, slow, lively, simple or a bit of a challenge they are clearly edited and have no awkward turnovers. None are dull, all are typical early Bach and are well worth a good look.

This volume is a good introduction for any young student wanting to learn to play JS Bach's organ music. It is not suitable for a complete beginner: the manual parts are about Grade 5, but the pedals are relatively simple apart from some solo passages. You would normally be ready to try these after a couple of years.

Excellent service; not knowing where I could find this organ music and needing it in a hurry I googled organ music, Bach Preludes and Fugues and found this shop with tne book I needed. It was here the next day and in time to play a prelude in church on Sunday!

Firstly I would say that I'm so pleased to see that Novello are now making this as a spiral bound book. So much easier to stay open on the music stand. The Eight Short Preludes and Fugues are among Bach's easier organ music and the Novello edition is pretty user-friendly with clear fingering and pedal markings. For the purists out there this is probably not the edition to go for as it does contain various dynamic markings and stop indications which were not indicated by J S Bach.

Arrived on time and in good condition. I like the ring binding which allows for much easier page turning.

This is clearly a re-issue of the former Novello edition. I had the original some 30 years ago when first learning the organ but recently lost it. The replacement seems identical with an improved wire ring-binder style binding which does turn better. Would be a good intro to anyone starting to play classical organ and the works of Bach.
