These arrangements are very playable and good value for the price. However I feel the texture doesn't always reflect what's in the full score. Mr McVicker says that the shortened versions are based on Elgar's own recordings but as these were made in the 1920s they had to be shortened to fit a 78 r.p.m. record and not necessarily what the composer would ideally have liked. I would have preferred that the complete versions had been provided so that the performer could make his/her own cuts where desired. I bought this set particularly for March No. 5 which is not available elsewhere.

Sympathetic arrangement. Good quality paper and clear manuscript. Pages open reasonably flat with a little persuasion.
