Wonderful to have such a beautifully printed modern edition of these delightful pieces, out -of - print for so long; particularly thoughtful to have the full score (used by the pianist) of each song on one page opening, by the use of a third pull-out page.
Lovely 'hausmusik' for performance by family and friends.
Not Beethoven's finest, and he usually wrote in ignorance of the words! And Thomson often provided inferior words he'd commissioned specially, rather than better-known lyrics.
The selection of songs for this volume, drawn from the late 19C edition and from sets never re-published, may well omit one's own particular favourites. But everyone will find things to delight.
