Jan Faulkner: First Bass

Books | Double Bass, Piano Accompaniment

Publisher: Recital Music
Composer: Jan Faulkner
Format: Sheet Music | Instrumental Album

5 short pieces for the beginner bassist. Written in a lively, enjoyable and accessible style, each piece uses a limited number of notes and rhythmic patterns to help develop musical and technical skills from the outset. The piano accompaniments are simple and supportive, aimed at the pianistic skills of the average teacher, offering new and inventive first concert or exam repertoire. Limited to 1st position, they use a number of keys and musical styles which should appeal to players and teachers alike.

Double Bass caricature used by permission of Cameron Ford (Australia).

Jan Faulkner was a member of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra for many years and is also a Specialist Percussion Teacher at Wells Cathedral School, alongside her recent appointment as Outreach Officer at the school. She has composed music for almost every occasion and is writing a series of double bass books for the young bassist.
