A worthy successor to the ST 500. The simple key change/transposition facility is very useful for multi-instrumentalists and is missing from other competing tuners in this price bracket. I use this for saxophone and it copes well across the range from tenor to soprano.

The Sat-501 is one of the more expensive of the "non-professional" tuners, and there's plenty of competition in the sub-£25 bracket, eg Korg have something similar (CA-40) for half the price. Ultimately I chose the Seiko as I've been impressed with the durability of my Seiko digital metronome over the years. The 501 is small enough to fit into my case easily, and the transpose function is ideal for my purposes (alto sax) and the virtual VU meter display is clear and responsive. Unsurprisingly it's far more sensitive to tuning than my ears so it's giving my embouchure an excellent workout! Overall unless you're on the very tightest of budgets I would happily recommend this model.
