The Wizard of Oz: 70th Anniversary Deluxe Songbook features all of the classic songs by E.Y. "Yip" Harburg and Harold Arlen. Also included are the never-before published "character themes" by Academy-Award winning composer Herbert Stothart, the complete "Munchkinland Musical Sequence," and the song "The Jitterbug," which was cut from the original film.
Utilizing rare M-G-M studio manuscripts and the original motion picture soundtrack, each song is presented in its original key. As a bonus, this unique collector's item includes two songs from the 1903 Broadway musical production of The Wizard of Oz, with lyrics by original Oz author L. Frank Baum.
These songs have not been published in over a century. The songbook also contains dozens of original production stills and publicity photos, an essay on the story behind the songs and score, and biographies of the composers.
This is an excellent book - the music, the narrative and the film clips. At the moment , Wizard of Oz is being performed at the Arts Centre Aberystwyth. I'm looking forward to seeing it later on today. Anonymous

An excellent book in nice low keys for young children to sing. A good variety of music. Anonymous

I bought this to help with rehearsals for a production of Wizard of Oz for a local theatre group. The theatre group hired an official script which came with a full score for a pit orchestra that without this book I would have had to translate into piano music - also the versions in this book are closer to those performed in the film than those supplied with the script (same keys and song structures). The arrangements are very full and interesting and are relatively easy to learn for a player of my level (about grade 5); most songs took about a week of one hour per day practice sessions to get to a decent performance level suitable for rehearsals. There is also some interesting text about the film score in the first part of the book. I recommend this book highly to anybody of about grade 5 ability or above. Anonymous

A beautifully presented edition with extra pictures and information including detail on the composer, lyricist and screen score. The extra pictures do break up the songs later in the book which does mean a couple of extra page turns when playing across two songs- but otherwise it is a good buy. Anonymous
