Gilbert And Sullivan: Patience (Vocal Score)

Books | Opera

Publisher: G. Schirmer
Format: Sheet Music | Vocal Work
Patience, or Bunthorne’s Bride, is a satirical spoof on Aesthetic poets and their followers. It revolves around two rival poets, Reginald Bunthorne and Archibald Grosvenor. Bunthorne lives in a castle with his family and enjoys adding up his receipts. Grosvenor, on the other hand, is an idyllic poet and "true" aesthetic, who despises money. Conflict arises when both try to woo the same woman, who has neither money nor social standing; in the end, Grosvenor abandons his appearance of aestheticism. This is the Schirmer Edition of the Vocal Score and contains all the dialogue.

With music and book by the famous collaborators Arthur Sullivan and W.S. Gilbert, available here is an authentic version of the Vocal Score to the fabulous opera Patience, as edited by Edmond W. Rickett.

This score also contains all the dialogue from the Opera, as well as the music and songs with piano reduction.

What I like about this edition is that it has the full libretto included. A moneysaver indeed, if anyone was thinking of buying the score and lib separately!

Good score - the Schirmer scores also have the libretto inside which is not clear from the web decription of this item so beware - I ordered a seperate lib which I obviously didn't need.
