Maja Passchier: Abracadabra Cello - 3rd Edition (Pupil's Book/2 CDs)

Books and CDs | Cello

Publisher: A & C Black
Series: Abracadabra
Format: Audio / Video | Backing Tracks
Now in a third edition, Abracadabra Cello has a fresh, contemporary new look and is the perfect book for pupil and teachers.

This title offers an identical selection of repertoire to the other books in the Abracadabra Strings series, so they can be used in any combination for group or whole class lessons and mixed ensemble performances. Used alone, they remain ideal for individual tuition.

With tunes you know and want to play, carefully graded in 20 learning steps, this new edition of the popular tutor also includes duets, trios and teacher's parts. Clear fingering and bowing diagrams and concise theory explanations help to teach the fundamentals of the instrument, and each new technical aspect is reinforced by several pieces using that particular technique.

Abracadabra Cello now also includes two CDs of performance and backing tracks, featuring selected orchestral backings.

Great book for beginner cellist - fun, well known tunes - big bold musical staves. Each tune has an accompanying cello part for teacher / more advanced player. The CD is brilliant - fun backing tracks that transform their first efforts into performances. I use this book for ensemble work - for mixed beginner violin/cellists and the children love to be able to play together and along to the CD. Don't buy the version without the CD's - they really are great to play along to and to help the beginner to hear what it should sound like. Well worth the extra couple of pounds. Recommended for kids and adults learning the cello - really good book and CD combo!
