Every interval there is, all in one song!

"The idea of Interval Song is for students to get to know the intervals in the most enjoyable way. It is useful for students of any age and I observed whilst recording this song that the young choir sang it without realising its didactic aim. They also learnt it by heart with no effort. Secret teaching is the aim!" - Django Bates

  • photocopiable lyric sheets
  • a CD including a performance, learning tracks and a backing track

Very clear sheet music and documentation, originally created using Sibelius software. Pricey though.

The Interval Song is great musically and as an aide memoir. I really like the music, which given the repeated listens, is important. With the instrumentation I don’t think there's enough differentiation between Minor 2nd, Major 2nd, and Perfect 4th, Perfect 5th. Maybe it's my ears but having listened to another CD?? Perhaps someone with perfect pitch can check they are actually different and not accidentally sung twice? The book’s slim and apparently contains, 'a guide to all the intervals contained in the song.' Yes, it lists them and their placement but it isn't a 'guide' or anything like one. No real information to support the CD.The book represents a wasted opportunity and so the package is, unfortunately, over-priced. There’s a CD with the 'Interval Song' and others for less money but lacks the other versions. I wish I bought this instead. Consider also Kim Chandler's Funky and Fun CDs. She gives the Minor 2nd and Major 2nd intervals more character (easier to hear than explain) plus you get excellent vocal warm-up exercises. I like the 'CD a lot, the book’s filler and a waste of opportunity and there’s nagging doubts over the intervals mentioned above. Good, not great.
