In Vera Cruz Island
, world-renowned Brazilian drummer Vera Figueiredo and the up and coming Daniel Oliveira team up with Hudson Music to present a complete play-along package that surveys the varied music of Brazil, providing both original musical interpretations and educational explanations of various Brazilian traditional and contemporary drum styles. This product, the first of its kind, not only explains Brazilian rhythms from drumset, but puts them immediately in context with Vera's incredible songs, so you can see how the rhythms work musically.
Brazilian styles, some of which are being explained in print for the first time in this package, including: Maracatu, Samba, Samba Jazz, Samba in 2/4 and 3/4, Samba-Reggae, Samba Escola de Samba, Bossa Nova, Baiao, Choro, and Chamame. In addition to these styles, Vera's songs also touch on Afro-Cuban and Forro mixed with rock rhythms, and drumset duets.
Vera Cruz Island (the title is an ancestral name for Brazil) contains two CDs: the complete album release of the same name, as well as the entire album remixed without drums for you to play along with. Guest drummers on two of the tracks include Dave Weckl and Dennis Chambers; on the play-along versions of these tracks, you get to play their parts! Detailed explanations of the drum parts and complete drum charts round out the package.
