I find the mix of sight reading, theory and pieces useful. Also it encourages hands together playing from the begining .
There are not all that many really good tunes - would have been better to have used familiar tunes rather than by Carol Barrett

This series is still my favourite for beginner pianists.

This book works thoroughly through the theory of music but the tunes are not particularly memorable.
