Johannes Brahms: 6 Songs (Cello and Piano)

Books | Cello, Piano Accompaniment

Publisher: Simrock
Composer: Johannes Brahms
Format: Sheet Music | Instrumental Album

A collection of six fabulous songs for Cello and Piano, by Romantic composer Johannes Brahms. Although these are arrangements, they were first published in 1896 by Simrock, Brahm's publisher, while the composer was still alive and so Brahms must have known of and accepted the arrangements.

The notation of the old Simrock edition has been assimilated with that of the original vocal version, especially with regard to the dynamics. Some of the cello's closing passages have been rendered more effective and fingering and phrasing have been modernised both technically and stylistically.
