This sonata is really beautiful. The first and third pieces are of a 7/8 standard and are a little tricky in places whereas the second is a 6/7 standard. This is a very unusual and moving set of pieces which concentrate on the tonality of the playing.

A really lovely piece of music. This is a difficult piece, I won't lie, but it's just so beautiful that you don't mind putting in the effort to get it sounding decent! There are some discrepencies between arrangements of the piece, but this fits most performances I have heard, and sounds more "right" than others. I would seriously recommend for any advancing player.

Excellent copy well printed and clear to read. Some of the turnovers are a bit scary particularly the third movement where assistance is recommended. A fabulous piece to perform. Its fun, its cheeky and clearly demostrates Poulencs talent for incorporating dramatic contrasts. I am the pianist and I must say I have enjoyed the challenge this piece offers when the flute goes well into its upper range with some really amazing passages.

Excellent. It is technically demanding, but manageable. Sounds great, so expressive and exciting. Beautiful piece.

A piece unlike any I've ever played. The first movement (1.Allegretto malincolico) especially grabs the attention of an audience, while the last movement (3. Presto gicoso)is a perfect end to a magnificent piece.

An amazing sonata which I would recommend to anyone. The first movement is currently on the grade 8 syllabus, and the second movement is on the grade 7 syllabus, so you can use it twice!

A wonderful addition to an advanced flautists collection!!! The first movement is on the grade 8 syllabus! The second movement is on the grade 7 syllabus! I couldn't wait to get my hands on this goody book!

A really nice sonata. The first movement is grade 8, however personally I've not found it as tricky as some of the other grade 8 pieces I've looked at. The second movement is grade 7 so this would be ideal for someone intending to take grades 7 and 8. I found the third movement quite challenging. Overall an excellent piece to have in your repertoire.

Needed this for daughter's progression to Grade 8 flute. As recommended by her teacher. Does what it says on the tin!

Fantastic set of pieces. Played the second movement for my grade 7 exam, played the first movement for my grade 8 exam and are now learning the entire thing (first two movements along with the final movement) for my diploma. I would really recommend this book to any flute player who is either needing it for their exams or just wants some repitoire music.

Fantastic flute repertoire. All three pieces essential playing. Last one trickier than other two!

One of the best pieces of all time for the flute. Challenging and tuneful. Useful new footnotes and editings in this version. Highly recommended.
