Clearly rated for intermediate. Tunes have chords for improvisation. I like the demonstration tracks as I can listen to the sax players interpretation

This book was purchased as part of my sons Duke Of Edinburgh to challenge him and was recommended by his Music Tutor

This set of Guest Spot books is really excellent. Well written, not too hard but with some tricky corners - but best of all with a really good backing combo on the accompanying CD. A great set of pieces to play - hours of fun!

This is actually quite a lot harder than the other books in the Guest Spot series. If you are keen and have got somewhere with the (Green cover) Jazz playalong, then this is an ideal next stage. Great arrangements and backing (- check out how close 'In a Sentimental Mood' is to the John Coltrane version!) But importantly, there are many sections where the dots have disappeared and just the chords are shown giving you a chance to try your own thing. Of course the demo tracks give you some ideas to use and they follow the written arrangements accurately. Overall, a great book but not for complete beginners.
