Ten classic jazz tunes, including transcribed solos and chord symbols, in melody line arrangements. This pack includes demonstration performances and specially recorded backing tracks, featuring a live jazz trio.
Ideal for learning and practicing jazz improvisation. Includes transcriptions of famous recorded solos and chord symbols for your own improvised solos.
The CD: Hear full performance versions of each tune, including demonstration solos, on Tracks 2-11. The tenor saxophone part is then omitted from Tracks 12-21 so you can play along with the recorded accompaniments.

This set of Guest Spot books is really excellent. Well written, not too hard but with some tricky corners - but best of all with a really good backing combo on the accompanying CD. A great set of pieces to play - hours of fun! Anonymous

This is actually quite a lot harder than the other books in the Guest Spot series. If you are keen and have got somewhere with the (Green cover) Jazz playalong, then this is an ideal next stage. Great arrangements and backing (- check out how close 'In a Sentimental Mood' is to the John Coltrane version!) But importantly, there are many sections where the dots have disappeared and just the chords are shown giving you a chance to try your own thing. Of course the demo tracks give you some ideas to use and they follow the written arrangements accurately. Overall, a great book but not for complete beginners. Anonymous
