The Gospel Train (Mixed Voices)

Books | SAB, Piano Accompaniment

Publisher: Faber Music
Series: Choral Basics
Format: Sheet Music | Vocal Work
The Gospel Train is a crowd-pleasing medley of Go Down, MosesOh Happy Day! and Ain’t No Mountain High Enough arranged by Alexander L'Estrange. It also includes Standing In The Need of Prayer, a well-loved spiritual with a simple, meditative melody and a pleasing, repetitive chord sequence.
These spirituals form part of the Choral Basics series and are arranged for soprano, alto, and combined men's voices with a straightforward piano accompaniment - ideal for beginner choirs and for choirs in which the male singers are few or at the stage when their voices are changing.

We just did the first number, but it was really easy to learn while still being interesting and lots of fun.
        Can't think of anything bad.

Super arrangements of popular gospel numbers; sometimes quite demanding but with a super overall effect
Can be quite challenging for amateur choirs although Go Down Moses is very accessible and a great concert item

        Musicroom Reviews

I have really enjoyed singing this piece with the METronomes - a student/staff choir based at Leeds Metropolitan University. This piece is really easy to follow, so would suit choirs of any ability. Our choir is mixed ability (some are comfortable reading music, others are not) but we really enjoy this piece.
