I love when the male voice takes over the melody. Adds real depth. Overall the music is beautifully written and easy to read.
It is a relatively easy piece to put together but does go to the top register of the voice (Ab) right at the end when the majority of the rest of the piece inly reaches Eb in the stave. This is a challenge for the less versatile Soprano! (or out of practise one).

Great melody, parts are reasonably straightforward for most choirs. Well liked by school choir.
Not really a bad point - but you'll need a good pianist (or organist) to do justice to the accompaniment!

        Musicroom Reviews

A lovely setting of these famous words, brought right up to date. Not as difficult as it first looks and the choir loved it immediately.

This is a real favourite of ours. We have sung it at weddings, concerts and services. The melody is simple yet it builds up to a climax at the very end really well. As a very amateur choir, we have made some small ommissions and we can cope with it very well. A simply divine piece of music.

Lovely piece of music. Suitable for many occasions. Fairly straight forward for an average SATB choir to learn and appreciate. Enjoyed by the members

It is refreshing that these lovely words by Charles Wesley have been set to a brilliant new tune by Howard Goodall. It is basically a verse-anthem, with piano, organ or strings accompaniment. The tune is repeated with each verse but sung in canon form in the last verse. This anthem is relatively easy to learn and well within the reach of the average choir. It is eminently suitable as an anthem for a concert, a wedding. the Eucharist or Evensong. It was sung at my son's wedding and both the congregation and the choir loved it.

Very singable for our very typical village church choir. Memorable lines for each part.

5 stars, this is a brilliant piece of music, it arrived on time and very securely packed.

Beautiful setting to established and great Wesley wording. Best suited to larger choirs perhaps but we will try it in our own small choir one day I am sure

Have only just started rehearsing this piece but it is going down well and sounds great! Not too difficult a piece but a little tricky navigating the section parts for those not completely au fait with musical notation.
