          Musicroom Reviews

I thought that this book would be really useful as it's packed with examples of the tests and they all come on CD so you can work through them easily. However, it wasn't until I got it home that I found that it doesn't have any answers in it and not all the examples are on the CD! It has the printed music so you can work it out but that's only useful if you have those skills and can guarantee that you will be right. I wouldn't recommend this book unless you have a good teacher to help you with it.

Very straightforward to use, both for teacher and pupil, or for pupils' private study. I prefer this series to the AB's own publications.

As a Vocal student I have used the series of "Aural Time!" and have found it most beneficial. I have tried several Aural tuition books and this is by far the best option. Because each section of the Aural test is explained clearly and LOADS of examples follow. The CD allows students, unable to play piano, to progress in their own time instead of being restricted to lessons. With all Products it has its bad points. In Section A ii/iii Cadences and Chords and Section C Modulations, the examples are not clearly marked with the answer, which could cause problems with students. The other bad point is the CD not having all the examples on it. However, I can’t help but think if all the examples were available on CD we would have about 10 CD’s and then we would complain that there are too many.

If students are struggling to practice their AB aural tests inbetween lessons, then this is a worthwhile purchase. It contains over 40 examples in each section, with over half of them on the cd and the rest as extra 'live' practice. Some guidance will be needed at first but this is an excellent book, especially for the higher AB grades.

This is a useful resource, although it takes some time to find the section/track you need. However, it has some excellent and interesting tracks. Each section of the aural test is catered for.
