The pieces are written and annotated in the same way as exam pieces for graded exams so you get used to the format and it gives explanations/background info about the music. This was recommended by my piano teacher.

This contains 50 short pieces of about grade 1-2 standard (many have been in the ABRSM syllabus) Ideal to use broaden a student's playing experience, for sight reading for students at grade 3-4 or just to pick up and play for pleasure. Highly recommended.

We bought the book because it had an alternative grade 3 piece in it which we really loved. My daughter has since found lots of other tunes which appeal to her in the Romantic Sketchbook. A lovely book!

I bought this volume as it contains one of the optional pieces for the Grade 3 piano exams. The piece itself is lovely but many of the others in this selection are really quite boring and it would be difficult to keep a pianist of this standard enthusiastic enough to continue to practise them.
