A useful gauge for assessing the progress of a young person who is relatively new to singing lessons. The 'exercises' are well presented. Lessons can be build around them even if the pupil is not to be externally assessed.

Perfect for young singers who are still working on the basics of our craft. Presented in a fun way that engages younger pupils immediately.

Good little starter book. A real pity that ABRSM don't include a CD as they do with all the later exam material.

This is the standard book for young beginner singers starting off on the ABRSM grades. The warm up tunes are enjoyable and focus on breath control, diction and pitching. The songs are written by Lin Marsh and are tuneful and atmospheric. I tend to use Ride On A Rainbow and The Smuggler Men with my young singers. It is a shame that the songs are not available in other keys however, as they are too high for some children. Examples of the aural tests are at the back of the book. This book is suitable for primary school age children.
