This is an excellent survey of Baroque period written by experts in their field. It is in depth and very instructive, especially about the style of play, the instruments used and each of their quality and how they hav been improved. I didn't realise that this is such a big period, covering Louis XIV's Lully and the foundation of the Paris Academy of Music to thedeath of Handel. Truly a mine of good information, accompanied with a very select CD played by the best orchestra with a historic leaning.
