          Musicroom Reviews

Excellent material for pre grade 2 to pre grade 4. Some material can be used successfully for GCSE performances. Includes a variety of keys from A major to G minor; introduces third and second position work and a variety of bowing techniques. Material includes folk music, spirituals, some well known classical numbers, solos and duets.

My 10 year old daughter was playing this in conjunction with her grade 2 violin pieces as directed by her violin teacher. She just loved it, in fact, she even played the cd and tried playing the songs!! The songs are lovely pieces.

A good book with the bonus of a CD. Great tracks that are a welcome break from exam pieces.

Another excellent book in the Fiddle Time series. I bought the whole series early on for my two young violinists and 5 out of 6 of their tutors has used this book. (All great tutors - we just moved house a lot!)

This study book is full of wonderful tunes that appeal to young and older players. The pieces are carefully selected to highlight technical challenges and the authors have thoughtfully isolated practice warm-ups for each of these pieces. The accompanying cd provides players with the opportunity to practice ensemble skills such as playing in time and listening. This kind of book makes studying fun.

This book is invaluable in teaching pupils from a good grade 2 pupil up to about grade 4. It systematically covers bowing skills, third and second position work, chromatic scales and dominant 7ths through a wide range of repertoire.

Arrived promptly and is what is required for next stage of violin. As previously Music Room are second to none when it comes to all things needed for music tuition and best for price.

There are plenty of different tunes, some classical "evergreens", some original, quite many duets. We have CD with backings, but only piano accompaniments and only for solo pieces. Unfortunately all duets don`t have accompaniments on CD. Duets are recorded in two-channell version, so you can choose which part you want to listen, as you play: 1st or 2nd violin, which is smart. Graphic is black and white and is worse than that in "joggers" and "Runners". In overall it`s good, but might be better:for example better recorded & more diversified backing tracks, more interesting graphic, or duets with accompaniment.
