Reigate baritone (no bottom "D"!)
- This is an opportunity for an a cappella group to sing this popular Christmas song. Be aware that the arrangement includes the rarely-sung verse. This might be a deciding factor for you (actually, I think it's nice to be able to include it! - It's quite short and is an effective lead-in to the popular chorus section).
- As a download arrangement, buyers do not have the usual option of transposing this music. The arrangement has some very awkward voice ranges...which, in any case, would not be completely solved by transposing it.
The soprano part is quite low (but OK). The alto part is written very low throughout and probably will not find favour. The tenor part is not bad on the whole...a middling tessitura. But the bass part...!!! Down to bottom "D" (bring in the Russians!) and up to top "E" (a piano one at that!)
Bearing in mind this is a cappella, unless you have any perfect pitch performers who might be troubled by it, groups might want to take the work up a tone or so (...basses will need to practise some falsetto).
