        These enchanting and cleverly composed gems by Jennifer Linn are a sheer delight and an enticing introduction to impressionist music. The graceful arpeggiated patterns and atmospheric melodic lines lie easily under the hands of lower intermediate/intermediate pianists (grades 3-4). Perhaps the jewel of them all is Butterflies in the Sunlight, which conjures up the magic of the title with every sparkling phrase. My other favourites so far are ‘Hummingbird’, with it’s perpetual motion whirring backdrop, the poignant ‘Winter’s End’, and ‘Evening Tide’, with its sonorous use of space. The titles are in French, suggesting the impressionist style, and, as you can see, the covers are very inviting. I’m looking forward to exploring more repertoire from this gifted composer, who has also given us a set of very useful anthologies, Journey Through the Classics.
