First things first, I bought this book from the point of view of a guitarist. So then, why did I not instead buy the “guitar tablature only” book you might ask. Well, the most important factor was the price. For only £3 more than the tablature book, I could get the entire score – guitar, drums and bass. And I reasoned that I would probably get at least £3 worth of use out of the drums and bass parts.
So, having only looked at the guitar section so far, I have found it very useful and simple to understand. It is slightly different to traditional tablature but still easy to use. To be honest, the fact that it is not so concerned with tabbing out every single strum (instead using markers to mean “repeat previous tab”) it becomes less cluttered and I found it much more desirable to use.
Obviously all the songs on Maladroit are tabbed here, except Living Without You which was a UK bonus track on the album.
All in all, I am very pleased with this purchase and I am itching to go home right now and play the crunching intro to Dope Nose (with the obligatory “oh, oh” being sung along with it).
