          Musicroom Reviews

For those who keep the memory of John alive by attempting to play his music themselves, this product is simply quite marvelous ! Some of his songs I have been able to work out for myself. But others such as Rocky Mountain High, and Darcy Farrow, were a little too complicated for my ears. Now with this DVD, Pete Huttlinger, a former band member until John's tragic accident, genuinely takes you behind the scenes, teaching you the exact styles John used, in carefully constructed parts. As a guitar player I would have considered myself to be not quite an intermediate, but not a beginner either. However, I have really amazed myself by learning the true lick for Rocky Mountain, and the gorgeous melodic finger methods to play I'm Sorry, Fly away, Boy from the Country, and Darcy Farrow. And you are taught Annie's Song, My Sweet Lady and Late Winter Early Spring ! Only one small problem. It is occasionally difficult to tell if Pete is using finger two or three to pluck a string. But this is very minor. Anybody wishing to play John Denver's music just as he played it will not be disappointed !
