This memorable song is from the Rodgers and Hammerstein Broadway smash Carousel. It has also topped the charts as a hit single for 60s group Jerry And The Pacemakers. However, nowadays it is the definitive football anthem, sung with passion by fans of Liverpool Football Club in a way that should send a shiver down the spine of every other true football fan.
Arranged here for SAB vocals and Piano accompaniment by Mac Huff.
If, as I did, you want the Rogers and Hammerstein song from Carousel, this ain't it! This is a Gospel-style song based on Roger's tune. It has been heavily altered - rewritten in slow Waltz time and with the tune extensively decorated with triplet figures and long appogiaturas it is barely recognisable. BUT if you like that sort of thing, it's a good, competent re-write of its type. (Unfortunately I needed Roger's tune to play at a funeral, so it didn't fit the bill). Caveat Emptor ! Anonymous
