This is a very good collection of traditional Reels, Hornpipes, Marches and other music from the Scottish fiddle tradition. At first glance the music looks quite easy, but the tempos chosen for the recordings will really stretch an intermediate player. As is standard with folk music, the notation is sparse, with no slurs suggested at all. The CD recording is brilliantly performed, and perhaps the only obvious drawback is that there are no playalong versions - with the backing track only. There detailed historical notes about the composers, which makes this collection of fiddle tunes all the more attractive.

It's good to be able to follow the written music as I listen. I would have liked some advice on bowing though, but this is worth every penny.
