        Exercises... contains about 330 exercises (somewhat more if your hands are XXL). The exercises are shown in a compact manner: "Only the two first harmonic forms of each exercise are given, the remaining ten [chromatic] transpositions having to be thought out by the player...". The ´forms´ are comprised of broken chords, with one or more notes played simultaneously, and often with one or more notes to be held down. All notes within a ´form´ are spaced one and one-half steps apart, by expanding a diminished chord to five notes or more, as in [C,E flat,G flat,A,C] or [C,E flat,G flat,A,C,E], etc. The book somewhat emphasizes finger strength, so "Pumping Ivory" might be a good subtitle for it.
