March Of The Men Of Harlech TTBB Traditional

Books | Choral, Piano

Format: Sheet Music | Vocal Work
March of the Men of Harlech is the unofficial national anthem of Wales – there is an official one -- and is well known there. The rest of the world may know the piece from films like Zulu, The Corn is Green and The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain, as well as from regimental songs. The rousing tune with its double-dotted rhythms and inspiring Choral cadence is a favourite with Welsh men’s Choruses. The words, which have appeared in several forms, concern the longest siege on British soil at the Castle of Harlech in 1468, though some insist they refer to an earlier siege during which the future King Henry V of England defeated Owen Glendower. This arrangement for Men’s Chorus TTBB is sure to awaken patriotic fervour in Welsh audiences and appreciation in all others. Welsh lyrics are included in the bass line.
