Publisher: Novello
Composer: Edward MacDowell
Format: Sheet Music | Vocal Work

Edward MacDowell (1860-1908) was an American pianist and composer in the Romantic style. By far and away, his most popular work today is To A Wild Rose, a beautifully simple and reflective piece for solo Piano, taken from his Woodland Sketches (Op. 51). It has been arranged here for SSA Upper Voice Chorus with Piano accompaniment.

I love this, but the ladies in my choir, apart from the oldest one, couldn't sing the words they were laughing so much, so sadly it's not going into our repertoire.
The word "elf-throngs"..... I ask you!

        Musicroom Reviews

I really liked the arrangement, warm and sympathetic, but couldn't possibly have my group try it as the poem that went with it was so out of date, saccharine,'Victorian' in feel, using odd words like 'elf-throngs'. I even toyed with the idea of making up my own lyrics as the musical arrangement was so pleasing, but obviously couldn't!
