Encourages playing for the sheer fun of it, and learning lots of tunes.
I bought it to play duets with my granddaughter. None of the duets has an accompaniment on the CD so very disappointed about that.
Would be better if it encouraged learning tunes from memory too.

I use this book for teaching my beginner primary school pupils and have found it to be very helpful. Having worked through the book myself first from the viewpoint of a beginner I thought it introduced and explained key things clearly and without too much unnecessary information. The only thing I would say is that in one of the pieces, it includes a note that isn't introduced until later in the book! But overall I think it is excellent. The CDs that are included are a lovely touch, as they play the piece to you so you can see how it goes and then you can play along on your own - some of the backing tracks are pretty spectacular too!

I like the diversity of music and the clarity of the Abracadabra series. It often needs some supplementing of the technical content but that's not a problem. The new edition has lost the lovely cartoons but there is more on the CDs and the price has not increased (miracle).

This book has well known songs and tunes in so is popular with young children. The book progresses in a well structured way, introducing new notes and musical features gradually. All the tunes are tuneful which is really important for a feel good factor.
