Simple, takes nothing for granted in my knowledge. Clear, good illustrations. The fingering graphics (an actual recorder in profile) are excellent. Builds slowly on each new note with plenty of material to practice.
Tunes were not so great, though it must be a challenge to find or invent new stuff with very few notes. The Millenium Pavan and Galliard are still not recognisable as tunes to my ear. (Could be my playing!)

As a soprano recorder player needed to overcome autatically playing soprano fingering. As a very basic book (child's) this has been very helpful
Could've gone a bit further but gives all you need to learn the new fingerings

I am new to alto recorders. Therefore I deliberately selected a low-price recorder but one that would perform as well as possible. My choice was based on a lot of online research. I am pleased with the sound that it produces which is quite mellow.
My biggest problem has been to reach the F hole. I have large hands but it took me a long time to produce a note (just there I think). This is not necessarily a criticism b

I played treble recorder in school many years ago, but had forgotten the fingering. The book teaches you the fingering, some fairly simple tunes using it and also teaches you about rhythms. I think it is very helpful, as it helps you to build in confidence. It also starts with the premise that you know how to read music and know descant fingering so there is no time lost on what you already know.
