Having the accompaniments is helpful for students who have no piano or accompanist to help between lessons.
It would be more beneficial for practice, particularly for very young singers, if the solo line was played over the accompaniment.

An impressive volume of pieces for Grade 1. The CD is very useful for pupils to use in their practice between lessons. It is also helpful to be given some suggestions for folksongs at the end of the book.

Excellent songbook that allows a pupil to do Grade 1 singing from just one book for the first time. Accompanying CD is a great reason to buy, although a shame that the melodies for the unaccompanied songs were not included on it, or a version of the accompaniments to the art songs that included the sung melody to help pupils in preparation for singing them with the 'actual' piano parts. Still an essential purchase for all singing teachers, though.

As a teacher I think this whole series is a very good buy. The range of songs in this grade one book is very extensive, and you would find songs to suit most young voices. There is also some modern music included such as where is love and walking in the air which prove very popular with beginners.

Well balanced selection of songs and the largest number of items in one place from the exam list.

A really useful collection of songs not just for singing exams. The Cd Accompaniments are useful, as are the pronunciation guides although sung versions would have informed more. A shame that there is no musical learning tool for the folksongs too.
