    Musicroom Reviews

An interesting compilation of tunes (15). Some are extremely well written but others lack something. It comes with a play along CD (Bass and Drums backing track, as well as a full performance) which works well with the pieces. With this book it is possible to play the tunes without the CD, the CD merely enhances the performance. It says it is an in depth analysis of the great jazz masters. The information is relevant but it is certainly not an in depth look into the masters and doesn't explain some of the key concepts/ideas very well. This book is difficult so don't expect to be able to play it first time round even if you're grade 7+. Still it's a good starting point if you're interested in the west coast jazz movement and you want to play/learn more. Overall not bad at all.
