Generally clearly set out & well explained. However, I preferred the previous system of uniquely numbering exercises throughout the book, rather than starting from Ex 1 again in each section. This means I have to write page as well as exercise number.

Great book for learning theory and very prompt delivery too.

The best book for preparing for a theory exam, although further explanation by a teacher or additional books may be required. There are lots of practical exercises.

The product and price are pretty much standard but the speed of delivery was impressive.

I am teaching myself music theory and have just completed this book. I found it excellent! The explanations at the start of each chapter are clear and are followed by exercises which increase in difficulty. At the end of the book are general exercises which call upon all your previous learning. If you don't have a music teacher to help you, I would recommend buying the answer book to go with this.

More generous with exercises than Grades1 to 3, but TIME SIGNATURES incomplete : surely by Grade 4, students should be competent to work in 12/4 and 2/8 time ? INTERVALS : my students whose 1st language is not English find the terms "melodic" & "harmonic" confusing. ORNAMENTS : too few exercises. ITALIAN & FRENCH : some obscure / rarely met words which never seem to appear in the exam papers !

Pupils use this with The AB Guide To Music Theory Part I and they can work alone at home which speeds up the learning process

This is a very useful book to use when preparing for theory exams. It is clearly laid out. However, it does not contain answers and so I have not given it 5 stars.

This book is part of a series of workbooks to develop knowledge and skills in the theory of music. It is very informative, and the approach to the subject is full of common sense and logic. It is well written, but cannot always be used without the help and guidance from a knowledgeable teacher.

A reliable resource for students approaching grade 5 who have never done any written theory before. It is clear and has lots of exercises to complete.

I always order this series for my daughter to study with her teacher and we are up to Grade 4.
