The book includes:

  • Ten top line arrangements of jazz tunes of an intermediate standard (a step up from the Guest Spot series).
  • A CD of demo and backing tracks performed by a live jazz trio.
  • Background song notes for each tune at the front of the book.
  • A hybrid code enabled the user to download parts and scores for the backing band (Piano, Bass, Drums) so they can play with friends as well as with the backing CD.

Well set out, well spaced scores, good clear printing.
Accompanying (hate the word "backing",but its less tiresome to write)"Combo" strutting some good stuff.
          Good for the intermediate player/learner/improvisor

Unfortunately, several of the pieces in this book have already appeared in other "Play Along" books that I have, so the number of "new" items was limited, which was disappointing.

Absolutely superb! Great, modern arrangements of some of my all time favourites. Challenging, but very satisfying. I really hope they will do more volumes in this series.

A great selection of well-known jazz pieces with a very good, realistic backing track on the CD.

Fantastic value for money. Good arrangements of some popular numbers - check out Take Five, it features Paul Desmond's improvised solo already written out. Great stuff. More challenging than the Guest Spot series - I'd rate it as intermediate to advanced - but well worth the effort once you've got it cracked.

This is a fantastic book. Every piece is excellent and the CD is just about perfect to play along with. The book strikes the right balance between challenging and fun. I will be keeping an eye out for other books in this series.

Absolutely love this range of books. This book is no different. It offers a good range of jazz, something for everyone, and enough of a challenge (for intermediate). The demo and backing track CD are great. There are bonus materials on the internet too. Recommend this and the others in the range. A+
