Jane Smith’s Planet Plenty is a catchy, exciting and thought provoking musical on the topical issue of saving the environment. Strong links to the QCA schemes of work for music, dance, geography, science and citizenship, with supporting teacher’s notes. Ideas for choreography and dance are also included. The CD contains demonstration and backing tracks which can be used for rehearsal or performance.
The people of Planet Plenty are mystified by the changes in their world. They thought they lived on the perfect planet, but now they are suffering from global warming, acid rain & congested space highways. They travel to neighbouring Planet Pleasant to see how to conquer the CO2 monster that they guess has caused their problems. However, while there, they discover that it is their own behaviour that has caused their difficulties.
This is a fabulous resource. The songs are catchy and great fun to sing. There is a broad range of music styles to sing and the arrangements are very effective. There are clear, well produced teaching aids making it accessible to all teachers. The story is topical and is a useful tool to stimulate cross curricular activities about green issues. I have been involved in 2 performances - one where the children performed it in concert and one much grander affair, using costumes, props, acting and dances. Both were hugely successful and enjoyed by both audience and participants. Anonymous
