Rimsky-Korsakov: Concerto For Trombone (Ed. Christopher Mowat)

Books | Trombone, Piano Accompaniment

Format: Sheet Music | Instrumental Album
This concerto is small in scale; the first movement making much of an energetically rising arpeggio figure, a lyrical second movement with some chromatic harmony that foreshadows parts of Sheherazade and a brisk march-like finale with an extended cadenza. In addition to the traditional cadenza this edition contains an alternative for the more advanced player. A solo part in treble clef also is included.

The Mowat version is very clear.
The arrangement for this piece is unclear. I thought I was buying the Perry version but instead I got the Mowat one. Originally I was giung to return it but then discovered that the Mowat arrangement was OK.
One problem was that there was no illustration for the Mowat version on your website when I compared them.

A decent version of one of the most played solos for Trombone and a standard part of most good players Repertoire. This version is on many of the boards exam listings, with the second movement coming at ABRSM grade 7 while the whole piece is at about Diploma level. Thoroughly recommended.
