Playing Bongos is a fascination dialogue between man and woman: Macho and Hembra - the two drums with this unforgettable sound. With its roots in the Cuban Son- and Salsa-music, playing the Bongos has had a big global break through with the artistic performances of Bongo maestros such as Armando Peraza with Santana.
With this DVD Hakim Ludin gives a clear insight into playing the Bongos with valuable information about basic rhythms and exercises, complex patterns, finger techniques, movements and soloing. Modern rhythms on Bongos is presented by one of the most fascinating and progressive percussionists of nowadays and a must have for Percussionists.
Hakim Ludin is a fantastic percussionist but not the best teacher as he plays very fast so you will have to watch the DVD a few times to fully understand all his hand positions on the bongos.
Be warned he is German so all the instructions are subtitled but don't let that put you off as it is a modern dvd with up to date rhythm's including martio variations in pop and hip hop.
I have learnt a few rhythm's from this dvd so feel it was money well spent but if you are only a beginner and are new to bongos then i don't think this dvd will help you as the speed and rhythm's are quite fast and complex. Anonymous
